RST students from various congregations joined a basketball tournament in preparation for the feast of the founder of the Servants of Charity (Servi della Carita)–St. Luigi Guanella. The feast was celebrated last October 24, 2018.
The invited four (4) teams from different religious congregation for the basketball were: The Order of St. Augustine (OSA), The Congregation of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (SCJ), The Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament, and The Order of the Augustinian Recollects (OAR).
The elimination round and the semi finals were held last October 18, 2018 at the Dehon basketball court, Tierre Verde Homes, Quezon City.
In the first game between the Servants of Charity and the OAR, the latter won. The second game between the OSA and the SCJ, the OSA won it. By way of drawing of lots, the OSA played against the Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament (SSS) who was the waiting team for the semi finals.
The semi-final round ended with the OSA playing for the finals against the OAR. The finals happened last October 24, 2018 at the Servants of Charity basketball court which was also the feast of their founder St. Luigi Guanella.
The game was hotly competitive and there were people who cheered for both teams. After the hotly contested game, the OAR got the championship trophy of the Guanella Basketball Tournament 2018. In the end, it was a tournament of great camaraderie for theology students from the different religious congregations. The different religious congregations are looking forward next year for another basketball tournament.
