The Rev. Fr. Dionisio Q. Selma, OAR, Prior Provincial of the Augustinian Recollects, Province of St. Ezekiel Moreno, received the solemn profession of vows of two simple professed friars, namely, Fray Virgil Calalang, OAR, and Fray Cristito Tepace, OAR, on September 7, 2019, vigil of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, in a solemn Eucharistic celebration at the Our Lady of Consolation Parish in Mira Nila, Tandang Sora, Quezon City.

Fr. Selma admonished the friars as well as the faithful to avoid the lure of comfort and convenience. He prodded everyone to be detached from their gadgets so that they can have more time to engage in genuine interpersonal communication. To the two solemnly professed friars, he asked them to devote time for personal prayers. While he praised the loftiness of communal prayers, he also emphasized the need to cultivate an attraction to personal prayer. “One reason why a religious falls away from his religious calling is when he fails to commune with God in personal prayer,” he stressed. The homily also zeroed in on the three evangelical counsels of poverty, chastity, and obedience which best characterize the life of consecrated men and women.

Fray Virgil offered a word of thanks prior to the final blessing. After the Holy Mass, an early lunch was served at the Bulwagang Recoleto for the guests and the RFC Community.

The celebration extended in the evening when the RFC Community and the parishioners of Our Lady of Consolation Parish (OLCP) gathered for a thanksgiving party at the PPC Hall on the third floor of the parish building. Rev. Fr. Gideon Lagrimas, OAR, Parish Priest, expressed his sincerest thanks to all the persons involved in all the preparation and success of the recently concluded parish fiesta which was held on September 1, 2019.
